Beanie Sigel Facing Up To 3 Years In Prison For Failure To File Taxes
Tomorrow morning, July 12th, Beanie Sigel will be sentenced for his
current court case at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District
of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Beanie had previously pleaded guilty
for his failure to file federal income-tax returns from 2003-'05, and
owes the IRS approximately $348,077 in back taxes that accumulated
during that time period. Sigel apparently made $1 million between
'03-'05 but never paid any tax money for his net income.
Sigel's attorney, Fortunato N. Perri Jr., spoke to XXLMag.com about his pending case.
"It's difficult to predict the outcome in cases like this. The sentencing judge is going to evaluate all the factors, including his background. Hopefully, the court will recognize that this is not a crime of violence. However, incarceration is an option."
Hopefully Sigel won't have to do any jail time for this financial issue.
